Sending limits and account safety

The daily and weekly caps Updately enforces on your behalf, and why they exist.

LinkedIn restricts accounts that behave like software. Restrictions escalate: first your invites stop landing, then your account gets a warning, then it gets limited. Recovering is slow and sometimes impossible.

Updately enforces its own caps well below LinkedIn's thresholds so this doesn't happen to you. These limits are not optional and cannot be raised past the values below.

Standard account

Per dayPer week
Connection requests20100
Direct messages20120
Combined total30150

The combined cap matters: 20 invites and 20 messages in one day would be 40 actions, which exceeds it. Once you hit 30 total, everything waits for tomorrow.

With Sales Navigator

A Sales Navigator subscription raises what LinkedIn tolerates, so the caps lift:

Per dayPer week
Connection requests30150
Direct messages30150
Combined total50200

New accounts: warm-up

For the first 7 days after you connect an account, limits are much lower:

Per day
Connection requests8
Direct messages8
Combined total12

A brand new account that immediately sends 30 invites a day is the single most reliable way to get flagged. The warm-up period is not something to work around — it's the thing protecting you.

Warm-up ends on its own after 7 days. You don't need to do anything.

What happens when you hit a limit

Nothing breaks. Contacts due today are deferred to tomorrow and picked up in the next cycle. You'll see them still sitting at In progress.

If you're consistently hitting the ceiling, your campaigns are enrolling faster than your account can safely send. Either narrow your ICP so fewer, better leads come through, or accept that the sequence will take longer.

Checking your usage

Your current day's usage is visible per LinkedIn account in the app, broken down into invites sent, messages sent, and profile lookups.

Other things that keep you safe

  • Sending windows — actions only go out during the hours you set.
  • Follow-ups before new invites — when the day's budget is tight, warm contacts are served first.
  • No messaging non-connections — attempts that LinkedIn would refuse are never made.
